KLÄTTERMUSEN MAXIMUM SAFETY FOR YOU, MINIMUM IMPACT ON NATURE

From old fishing nets to brand new backpacks
One way of reducing our impact on the natural world is to use recycled material in our products. Klättermusen is the first in the world to manufacture such a textile from recycled nylon that is so robust it can be used in backpacks and bags.
Recycled nylon fibre, manufactured from discarded nylon products such as fishing nets and carpets, is the main material in our new series of backpacks and bags. The backpacks are available in sizes from 30 to 65 litres, and are not just great for outdoor activities but also when travelling or commuting to and from work. Some of them also have a protective internal computer case.
No one has previously produced such a robust nylon fabric from recycled nylon fibre. The world’s leading material manufacturer has assisted Klättermusen during development.
The result is a tough, flexible weave that can withstand years of demanding use. It’s also great looking and has a pleasant feel.
Sound knowledge.
There is no magics involved in recycling nylon fibres, but it does require sound knowledge of how the material functions at a molecular level.
When our material manufacturer receives used nylon products the fibres are ground down and shaped into small pellets. These are then broken down to the molecular level and cleaned from dust, grease, dye residue and dirt in order to produce a new raw material. This raw material is polymerised and transformed into plastic chips. These are then melted and spun into new fibres, which are used in new products.
Recycled nylon is the same quality as newly manufactured nylon. The recycled fibres don’t change the material’s qualities in any way. Most of Klättermusen’s backpacks, and Fenrir trousers, are made from recycled material.
